Swedish massage is the most common and best known of massage. It involved long, fluid strokes of muscles and tissues with pressure that varies from light to medium. The main PURPOSE: to increase the oxygen flow in the blood and release toxins from the muscles.

Deep Tissue Massage
Deep tissue massage targets your body’s deepest layers of muscles and release tension in over-stressed areas. When your muscle is severely knotted, this treatment is designed to break it up. Deep tissue massage is a mix of slow, short strokes and penetrating finger pressure focused on tight, contracted areas such as a stiff neck and upper back, low back pain, leg muscle tightness, and sore shoulders.
Some of the same strokes are used as classic massage therapy, but the movements are slower, and the pressure is deeper and concentrated on areas of tension and pain in order to reach the sub-layer of muscles and the fascia (the connective tissue surrounding muscles). Hot Stone Therapy
Hot Stone massage is a natural therapy in which warmed stones are positioned on parts of the client’s body and also use to massage certain areas of the body to maximize the therapeutic benefit.

Body Scrub
Body scrub is a popular body treatment that is like a facial for the body which leave your skin feeling velvety smooth and soft. The idea behind a body treatment is that is just as important to cleanse, EXFOLIATE, and hydrate the skin on your body as it is the skin of your face.
You can get a body scrub on its own. But often it’s the first step in a BODY WRAP, also a great combination body scrub with a MASSAGE. The skin is constantly generating new skin cells at the lower layer (the dermis) and sending them to the surface (the epidermis).
Exfoliation is the removal of the oldest dead skin cells that cling to the skin’s outermost surface, or epidermis. As the cells rise to the surface they gradually die and become filled with keratin. There keratinized skin cells are essential because the give our skin it’s protective quality.
They are constantly sloughing off to make way for younger cells. As we age the process of cell turnover slows down. Cells start to pile up unevenly on the skin’s surface, giving it a dry, rough, dull appearance. Body Wraps

Body wrap begins with exfoliation through dry brushing. Once the product is on, you are warped to stay warm, usually for 20-30 minutes. When the time is up, you are unwrapped, and the body mask has to come off.

FAQ’s
Can massage actually relieve depression and anxiety?
Yes, and here is why. Cortisol is the hormone your body needs for a fight- or- flight response, but when stressful events don’t require you to flightier flee, it can build up in your system and create problems.

There are the natural chemicals your body produces to stabilize your mood and lower stress. Regular massage therapy makes it easier to slip into more relaxed state, which helps you breathe easier and sleep better. So, massage is a beneficial for your mental health as it is for your physical condition.
Will the massage hurt?
This depends on the type of massage and the depth of the strokes. A light, relaxing massage that doesn’t probe very deep into the muscles, shouldn’t hurt. With that being said. There is a ” feels hurt” and an ” ouch, stop it” hurt. A good massage, even a really deep tissue massage, should always stay in the ” feels good” hurt range.
Pain can be an indication that the muscles is possibly injured or inflamed, and pressure should be adjusted. Also, pain can cause you to tighten up and negate the relaxing effects of the massage. The most effective and deepest massage always works with your body’s natural response, not against it.
How often should I get a massage?
“Some is better than none”…
What does that mean? Well, it varies from person to person. If you are just looking for some occasional relaxation, then a session every 3-6 weeks may be fine for you. However, if you are looking to address a specific condition, then it is recommended to go more frequently at first and then slowly taper down to a maintenance schedule. Sometimes more frequent 30- minute sessions can be effective until your goals are met, and a maintenance schedule is in place.
Frequency of sessions should be discussed with your massage therapist after your treatment when massage therapist has a better hand- on understanding of your particular muscular issues.
If I want a really deep massage shouldn’t I see a male therapist?
The answer is NO. There is a perception that men give deeper massages than women. This is a myth. While some men do give a deeper massage, there are men who prefer to not work so deep. The same holds for women.
It is a matter of style, training, and therapist preference. Some therapists prefer not to give really deep sessions while others specialized in this area. If you are looking for a deep massage, it is the best to simply to ask the therapist if the person provide this type of work. And of course, during your session it is perfectly ok to give the massage therapist feedback if you would like a lighter/ deeper pressure. It’s your session!
And remember, massage does not have to hurt to be effective.
When should I not get a massage?
There are few conditions which would prevent you from enjoying massage. You should not book a massage if you have a fever, cold/ flu, or contagious skin infection.
There are many other conditions in which your therapist need to adapt the technique (i.e. arthritis or osteoporosis) or avoid an area completely (i.e. cuts or burns). With some condition it is a good idea to get approval from your physician before you receive massage (cancer, certain heart condition, pregnancy). This doesn’t mean you can’t get massage. But it’s always to err on the side of caution.
